Nezahualcoyotl’s namesake was a fifteenth century warrior, philosopher, poet, architect and ruler of Texcoco (in modern day Mexico) and literally translates as ‘coyote who fasts’ in the regional Nahuatl tongue! Artist Joseph Dunmore was inspired by Aztec and other ancient and indigenous art from all over the world.
